Of coarse, as soon as I move away from Berwick they get one of the best new steak restaurants in Victoria!
Former Executive Chef of Vue de Monde Group, Chris Bonello, brings a little piece of luxury city dining to the suburbs with MPD Steak Kitchen.
From the New York feel decor, to the (literally) smoking dessert, this is truely an unforgettable dining experience.
Honestly, I wanted to eat everything on the menu in one go, but I also wanted to be able to show my face in that restaurant again. So we opted for a more respectable order of Cape Grim tenderloin steak, 36 month striploin with MPD's spiced BBQ sauce (boy does it pack a punch!) and some of the best sides I've tasted!
MPD has an incredible wine and cocktail selection also, which I didn't get to try this time as I was driving (late bloomer), but will definitely try next time. I did however have the most refreshing blueberry cucumber mocktail that was definitely a tasty substitute.
MUST TRY - Chickpea fries with MPD BBQ sauce, Popcorn Chicken with chilli mayo (the spice rub on that chicken was so fragrant, I got cravings again every time someone in the restaurant ordered it), Broccolini with almond pesto, MPD Tiramisu with chocolate soil & coffee snow.
The staff were very attentive, even when the restaurant got quite busy, and the ambience was super chic, perfect date night venue or even just for a weekend cocktail lunch with friends.
MPD is definitely not a budget night out. With quality produce and inventive menus, a slightly higher price tag is to be expected. But for the quality of food and dining experience I think the pricing was quite fair.
Price range - $40-$80 for a main meal $10-$30 for starters $15-$20 for cocktails
I've said it before, first impressions are everything, and MPD Steak Kitchen has left a lasting mark on me. Definitely a standout dining experience and a true asset to Berwick. Take a trek out and see for yourself, the entrance alone will have you wanting more!
