In the past I have attempted to buy Misannabell's Christmas presents without asking her what she wants, because apparently all girls love a surprise.. Well that's a lie.
The only surprises that they like are ones that they have pre hinted for, screenshot and tagged you on Instagram for.
I only ever did it that once and it was such a mess that I've never done it again. That Christmas is forever known in our life as "The Safari Disaster of 2011". I thought camo print was in, apparently there is a fine line between fashion and Safari Hunter, who knew.
So now after years of birthdays, Christmas', anniversaries and shopping trips, I think I've got the holiday gifting down and I'm going to pass on my ideas for safe present ideas on all budgets. Misannabell has kindly produced some photos to make it even easier for us because I'm good at finding the "good angles", not so good at laying out the flatlays (thats right, yeah?).
Guys, take notes.
FOR THE BUDGET GUYS (AND GIRLS)
I have learned that anything from Mecca or Sephora will always out a smile on her face. Lipsticks are always safe and anything with the word "glow" or "highlight" seems to be on trend and will cop you some serious brownie points.
Anything with flowers or bugs stitched on it seems to be popular in our household at the moment. All these items can be found at TopShop.
If the idea of picking makeup is stressing you out as much as it stresses me out, you can get her a subscription to BellaBox,who will send a mix of different makeup and skincare to her house every month. Easy!
PRICE - $17.95pm (use Misannabell's code for a $10 box for the first month bit.ly/2hMi4iF)
Yeah, I know guys, we may not get this trend, but the furry footwear thing is in full swing. I call these "house slippers" but she wears them everywhere, girls know best right? These bad boys can be found at Tony Bianco.
Big gold earrings are back in and not tacky anymore. Or they are tacky, but in a good way? I still don't know. But you can pick up a range of big gold earrings from Lovisa
It might seem like an old fashioned present or something your Nan would get you, but Misannabell still loves to spend small fortunes on fashion magazines every month. Why not subscribe to Vogue for a year? You can get an e-subscription for the modern high-tech ladies, or a print subscription for the classic girls.
FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GET HER MORE THAN JUST A LIPSTICK
WARNING! Clothes can be risky, make sure you check her Instagram for brands she follows or outfits she comments things like, "AMAZING! Killing it babe!" Or "SLAY 🔥", they're usually good signs that she likes what they're wearing and stick with what looks similar to how she usually dresses. (for Misannabell its flowers, stitching, stripes, denim) The corset I don't really get, but apparently the girls wear them on the outside of their clothes now. Top dress is from online store Runway Scout, bottom dress is Zara, lots of stripes and flowers there!
PRICE: $79 - $250
Perfume, also risky. Try and find what perfumes she has already and tell the ladies at the counter. Sephora have some different options that might be a bit more rare, or Myer and David Jones etc have the classics.
I hear watches are super trendy and make great Instagram posts. These pieces from Kapten & Son are a good start, they have both casual and fancy options.
PRICE: $249 - $309
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SOME CASH TO SPLASH
From what I've seen on every Instagram account this year, Gucci belts are the way to go. Definitely not the cheapest belt, but trust me, she'll wear it (well, she better!).
While we're doing designer, if you've got the cash, can't go wrong with a handbag. Again, can be risky, so check out her Instagram or blogs she follows, or stick to basics. What brand to get really depends on how much money you want to throw down. Gucci have a couple in the lower price bracket (and I'm still talking $1000+ ish) or you can go the big bucks with brands like YSL, Prada or Chanel.
We were recently in the states and found these bags by someone called Furla that you can change the top of the bag so it's like having heaps of bags for the price of one. The gift that keeps on giving!
Or the gift that you can enjoy too, book her a weekend away! If you follow Misannabell, it won't be a surprise that our favourite place to stay is Crown. Heaps of food options, movies, Galactic Circus and the worlds most comfy beds. Trust me, it's a win win.
PRICE: $360-$990pn (based on weekend rate)
There you go guys, some of my last minute christmas gift ideas for the girls of the Instagram/blogger generation. Most of these things can be picked up at Chadstone or your local shopping centre/CBD, which all have late night trading until christmas. This won't work for everyone, but if your girl follows Misannabell or is even remotely into the same things, you should be able to avoid "The Safari Disaster of 2011" situation and have a happy girl on Christmas Day.
