New York in the Winter, is there anything better? Being from Australia, we don't get to experience all that is a white Christmas or even snow during winter (unless we head up to the mountains), so I absolutely love going to New York during winter! I am that crazy person who spends every minute of every day walking through Central Park or roaming the streets of Manhattan lapping up all the wintery glory.
The icy temperatures do have their challenges however. Layers are key, and when you don't particularly want to layer, thermals are a great secret weapon against the New York chill.
For this outfit I chose the thermal option. The thermal leggings & top hid perfectly under my clothes without having to add too many layers, whilst still ensuring I was nice and cosy in the near sub-zero temperatures. To keep my toes from freezing off in slip on shoes I wore little wooly sockettes too, although I still probably wouldn't recommend wearing sockless shoes during winter.
Just before we left LA I picked up this H&M coat as I was anticipating some seriously cool weather, and boy am I glad I did! This coat became my staple during this trip. The bell sleeved jersey top and shoes were from Zara and also both great little pieces that were on a high rotation. I am a huge fan of basics that I can wear with multiple different outfits
A true Melbournian, I opted for black-on-black most of this trip, but the stars of the show in this outfit were my new favourite statement jeans and beanie, both from TopShop. As you all know, I love anything with embroidery at the moment and these jeans add just the right amount of detail to a nice simple outfit. I'm not usually one of hats or beanies, unfortunately I don't quite have the head for it (thanks, Dad), but when the wind is as chilly as it is in New York, sometimes you just need to chuck a beanie on. The cute little pompom sold me on this one!
